QUALIFCATIONS
In seeking a broker, you can look for certain types of qualifications:
Real estate broker's license. Real estate and business brokers share many of the same duties. In fact, some states require business brokers to have a real estate license. So if you hire a broker and later find that he doesn't have a state-mandated real estate license, you probably have the right to terminate the contract and not owe any fees.
Series 7. This is the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) license allowing people to sell securities to the public. Although the Series 7 is meant mostly for selling public stocks and mutual funds, the advantages for you are the fact that the qualifying test is quite rigorous and the license requires members to uphold high standards for clients.
